Open and read EPUB files online with a private EPUB reader and viewer that runs locally in your browser. Browse chapters, themes, and the table of contents.
Drop a DRM-free EPUB here or choose one from your device. The file stays in this browser tab.
The book is processed locally and is not uploaded for these tools.
Read a DRM-free EPUB 2 or EPUB 3 without uploading it to a remote bookshelf. The viewer follows the book’s navigation and reading order, resolves packaged styles and images locally, and displays each chapter in an isolated frame. Use the contents panel, text-size controls, paper, sepia, or night themes, and full screen. Active and external content is blocked by default because an ebook can contain untrusted web documents.
The file, metadata, and chapter text remain in the current browser tab.
The contents panel uses EPUB 3 nav or EPUB 2 NCX and follows the declared spine.
Scripts, forms, remote resources, automatic refresh, and dangerous links are blocked.
Use EPUB Reader Online and EPUB Viewer for the practical conversion task, with privacy and compatibility boundaries stated before download.
Open or hide the table of contents, jump to a named chapter, and use Previous and Next to move through the linear reading order. Text size and theme controls change only the display, not the source book. Full screen gives the chapter more space. The reader loads one chapter at a time instead of placing a long publication on one huge page. It does not yet provide persistent bookmarks, highlights, annotations, full-book search, text-to-speech, cloud sync, or cross-device reading history.
Safe images, fonts, CSS, and sanitized SVG stored inside the archive can load as in-memory data. CSS imports and external URLs are removed; missing references do not trigger network requests. Publication JavaScript, iframes, embeds, forms, automatic refresh, media playback, and unsafe URL schemes are disabled. This can change an interactive book, but prevents opened content from behaving like a trusted website.
The viewer parses the ZIP container, OPF metadata and manifest, spine, EPUB 3 nav, and EPUB 2 NCX. It works best with reflowable novels, essays, reports, and documentation. Fixed-layout comics, magazines, vertical writing, advanced ruby or MathML, media overlays, synchronized narration, scripted exercises, proprietary extensions, and DRM can render differently or remain unsupported. Opening here is a useful preview, not proof of compatibility with every reading system.
The file is processed by EPUB Reader Online and EPUB Viewer within the current browser tab.
The browser checks the extension, ZIP signature, archive paths, extraction limits, container, package, and encryption information. Recoverable issues can appear as warnings.
Review the detected title, author, version, and chapter count. Use navigation labels when available or fallback chapter names when the publication omitted them.
Try several chapters, themes, font sizes, and window widths. Check images, headings, tables, lists, links, and multilingual text, especially after editing or conversion.

Direct answers about EPUB Reader Online and EPUB Viewer privacy, compatibility, and output.
Choose the .epub from your device and wait for local parsing. Then use the contents panel or chapter controls. No desktop installation or account is required, and the ebook is not sent to a remote reading service.
Yes. The file, title, author, and chapter text stay in tab memory. Close or refresh the page to clear the session. The website itself must load, so browser-local processing should not be confused with guaranteed offline availability.
A modern browser on those platforms can use the viewer when required web APIs and memory are available. Mobile browsers may reload inactive tabs or struggle with large illustrated books. Use a dedicated app for a permanent library or advanced accessibility features.
EPUB is an open digital publication format that packages XHTML, CSS, images, fonts, metadata, and navigation in a ZIP-based container. Most EPUB books reflow to screen size and reader preferences, unlike a PDF’s fixed pages.
Kindle delivery support and conversion behavior can change. This page does not send books to Amazon or certify delivery. Check current official Send to Kindle guidance for an authorized DRM-free EPUB and test the delivered result.
It may rely on remote assets, scripts, fixed coordinates, proprietary CSS, vertical text, media, or another blocked feature. Reading engines also apply different typography. Check the intended app when exact publisher presentation matters.
No. ACSM is generally an authorization message rather than the ebook itself. Unsupported encrypted resources are rejected, and this reader does not bypass store, lending, password, or DRM controls.
No persistent library is created. The active chapter exists only during the page session. Bookmarks, notes, highlights, and reading history are not stored or synchronized.
